Minion Hats from Wonder Kids

Here is one of my favourite ideas from the original Minions post.  Now with the extra Minion films that have come out we could make either the normal yellow minions or the Purple evil minions. These hats are super easy and all the supplies to make them should be really easy to find either online or at your local hobby store.  I found everything at my local Hobbycraft shop.

Minion Hats 2018 from Wonder Kids

What you need

  • Yellow Foam Visors

  • Black Craft Foam, roughly 1 sheet

    per three hats

  • Big googly eyes

  • Black pipe cleaners for hair

  • PVA glue

Cut out thin strips of black foam into goggle shapes, stick the big goggly eyes in place on the black foam making goggles. Make sure you make some with one eye and some with two eyes.

Glue the goggles onto the yellow visors, making sure the visors are up-side down. Poke the pipe cleaners through the top of the visors for hair.

Cookie Robots from Minions

A brand new idea, adding to the Minions theme this time.  I love getting kids in the kitchen and this is the perfect opportunity to do just that.  First lets make the cookies and then we'll turn them into robots.

Ingredients

Minion Cookie from Wonder Kids
  • 150g salted butter, softened

  • 80g light brown muscovado sugar

  • 80g granulated sugar

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 large egg

  • 225g plain flour

  • ½ tsp bicarbonate of soda

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • 200g plain chocolate chip or chunks

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 190C/170C fan/gas 5. Line two baking trays with non-stick baking paper.

  2. Put the butter and sugars into a bowl and beat until creamy. Beat in the vanilla extract and egg. Sieve the flour, bicarbonate of soda and salt over the mixture and mix in with a wooden spoon. Add the chocolate chips and stir well.

  3. Using a teaspoon, place small mounds of the mixture well apart on the baking trays. Bake in the oven for 8–10 mins until light brown on the edges and still slightly soft in the centre.

  4. Leave on the tray for a couple of minutes to firm up and then transfer to a cooling rack.

To make these great cookies look like robots just use kitchen foil to make the legs and I used my wife lipstick lid to hold the central foil around. remove the lid so you can use it again. make a small hole in the centre of the cookie and slide the cylinder through the hole. Make sure you search for minions using the search bar above, I have loads more great ideas for you too.
