We’re back with another instalment of Marvel fun. This time we are going to explore space with Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel which is pretty difficult to do as no-one has yet seen the new Captain Marvel film, it’s coming out on March 8 this year so in a couple of weeks we will know what this awesome trailer is all about.
So we are going to kick this post off with Guardians of the Galaxy, I love that Marvel took the gamble on this film because come on, in an era of brilliant super hero films started off by Nick Nolan’s Batman Begins and continued with Marvel’s introduction of Iron-Man, all the films were basically earth based stories that most people had seen and if not heard of before but Guardians introduces us to really unknown characters to the general public (myself included) but not only that, they are really unusual and weird characters, they literally got Vin Diesel to agree to a movie where you don’t see his face and he only says THREE words! I AM GROOT!
Combined with a brilliant sound track, in fact two great sound tracks now, I really hope we get to see them in a third Guardians film on their own again. I have covered this topic in my intro to Marvel below.
Speaking of Groot, check out this great lunch/snack bag, super easy and any Groot fan would love it, put some snacks in to watch the film or great for a packed lunch.
try this for a great fun game, it’s the old Simon Says game but with Groot. So everyone should only follow the instructions if you start with “I am Groot” here are some of things you can get everyone to try and do
I am Groot Hop on one leg
I am Groot wave your hands in the air
I am Groot, say “I am Groot”
I am Groot try the splits
I am Groot Star Jumps
You get the idea.
Groot Beer Float
Cocoa Candy Melts
Vanilla Ice Cream
Mini Chocolate Chips
To start, melt chocolate candy melts according to package directions. Once melted, dip rim of glass into the chocolate to coat. Add sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, and other other treats you’ve collected. No, you’re not The Collector. Let the chocolate set. Next, you’ll blend root beer and vanilla ice cream for your float. We used 1 cup of root beer and 2 scoops of ice cream for each shake.
Pour your blended root beer float into the prepared glass. Top with whipped cream and any remaining sprinkles. Add the Preztel Rod in now and serve.

Fate of Xandar Game
Ronan has a plan to put an end to life in our Universe. It is up to the guests to defeat Ronan’s plan. For this game you will need 26 balloons, 26 scraps of paper, one red and one green marker or pen, and a six-sided die.
Use the 26 scraps of paper and write one of each letter on each of the scraps of paper. Write the letters in the color shown below.
Put one scrap in each balloon and fill with air. Scatter all the balloons on the floor. Have all of the guests come into the room and line up. Each player takes turns and chooses a balloon and then rolls the die to determine how they must pop their balloon.
If they roll a;
Pop with their hands
Pop with their feet
Pop with their bottom
Pop with their knees
Pop with their elbows
players choice - but can't pop it in a way that has already been used.
Once they pop their balloon the must pull the paper out. If it is a red letter it will go to form the words R-O-N-A-N D-E-S-T-R-O-Y-S. If it is a green letter it goes to form the words G-U-A-R-D-I-A-N-S S-A-V-E.
Keep playing until one of these two have been completely spelled out. This is the fate of the universe.
If they do save the universe they all win a small prize. If the universe has been destroyed, the players must help pick up all of the balloon pieces.

I’ve Got The Power
This is a great game to end this post on, I play this at the birthday parties I entertain at as Wayne Wonder. I use the great classic track from Snap- I’ve Got The Power
I stop all music playing and sit down in front of the kids, raise my hand and the kids will copy you, trust me it works. Put the other hand up and then quickly place a finger on my nose, the kids will copy this, jump up and do star jumps, then hop around in a circle and then some running the spot, the kids will copy all of this.
Now you can make it captain Marvel related, Say because i’m captain Marvel people copy me, some kids will copy what you are saying. “I can pass my power onto anyone” Tap a kid on the should and invite them up to you, tell everyone to copy whatever little Johnny does, then when Little Johnny has done a few actions ask them to go and tap someone on the shoulder to come, passing the power. You can keep going until all the kids have had a go, you’ll get tired before they do and be prepared to do some flossing.
Make sure you check out our other Marvel posts and come back soon for our next blog post covering Hulk and Loki.
